[LELE] 34044 Heroes Gathering :: Loki!! and [Sheng Yuan] No. SY254 Heroes Assemble - Jean Grey!!

Today, I'll be making a joint review of 2 different marvel characters from different brands, different media, and different franchise. its Loki from Avengers Infinity Wars, and Jean Grey a.k.a Phoenix from the X-Men comics!!

LOKI
I may be saying this a couple more times all through this review, but I'm really surprised LELE decided to include him on this set, because he did not have that much of screen time in the movie.

Box Art
its pretty usual, the main focus on the front is an art of the mini figure inside, and the back has all the 16 minifigs to collect from the set. Looks like they also doesnt come with minibuilds.

Here are the other 15 characters you can get from this set. Im pretty interested on Gamora, sonce other brands has decided to opt her out of their set, and I'm surprised actually.. to see Loki being part of this Set, considering he appeared on the screen like only a few minutes.

What's Inside
Only contains a sealed plastic bag of minifig parts.. no instruction manual.

Here are his parts and pieces out of the plastic bag.. 4 hands ya'll!!

Mini Figure
Loki has got a blue and yellow scheme make over in Thor Ragnarok, from his usual grean and gold one, and the print on the torso is done pretty well. He also got two face prints.

Figure Accessories
Loki came with his famous horned helmet, a yellow clothe cape, and a buildable scepter with blue jen to represent the Mind Stone. Oh, and he also came with a pair of extra hands.. that will be handy when the ones he has gets loose. #GodOfMischief

Lastly, Loki has got a stand base, which is neat, considering Im having a hard time making him stand on his own because of that staff.

Design Origin
Loki did appeared in Infinity Wars for few minutes at the beginning, wearing the same blue and yellow outfit, but I'm basing this minifig's design on how he looked at Thor Ragnarok film. He was however not shown to be holding his staff, and has no helmet on most of the time, until the battle in bifrost bridge where he wore it for a moment..

Did some little changes, gave him a pair of knifes and now the fig has the closer look to his movie version.

Comparison
I got another Loki minifigure, from SY259 Super Heroes, where he a more familiar green suit and cape.. and a different scepter. Notice that this LELE Loki has a shorter cape than regular ones.. must be from Mighty Micro series.

LOKI Score: 8/10
Just the short cape.. and maybe the weapon choice and the helmet. We dont need another helmed Loki. Give us a minifig with his black hair down! it's still 8 though, cause I like the color.

JEAN GREY (Phoenix)
This one's a little old, I just second guess on weather I will get her or not each time, cause she's always only available for sale on a set as a whole, and I'm not a fan of the other characters.. I just want the X-Men fig. And she is labelled Jean Grey on top of the box.. lemme explain that further below.

Box Art
Front shows Phoenix (adv as Jean Grey) whipping out some vines.. VINES. As if the  right orange hair isnt enough, they equiped her with vines.. I think SY confuses her for Poison Ivy. Back shows the instruction manual already printed on the box.

Heres the bottom part of the back, it shows all the other characters you can get from the set. And some are from DC, and not even the good ones.. this is one of the reasons why I refuse to get the whole set.

Side of the box has some profile pictures of the minifig art printed on it. Looking cool though.

What's Inside
Since the instruction manual is already printed in the back the box, I am no longer expecting to find another sheet inside..

..and I'm right. It only contains a single seald plastic bag of parts and pieces to build the minifig and some sort of symbol stand.

Mini Figure
I love that her prints and colors are the same as the one in comics, and check out how the belt end print goes all the way to her legs. She only have one smirking face print.

Figure Accessories
Immana say it again, Phoenix and Poison Ivy from DC arent same girls. First, that's Ivy's hair color, and vines are definitely one of Ivy's abilities. None of which were Jean Grey's.

She also comes with this base plate with SY logo and other nonsense prints on it, a regular on other SY minifig releases..

Design Origin
This fig is loosely based on Phoenix, one of Jean Grey's many alter egos. She went with the codename Phoenix, after she bonded with the Phoenix force, and started wearing this green spandex with yellow sash belt, and the bird logo on her chest. The minifig has the same design as the LEGO release exclusive for SDCC 2012, except the face print and it has red hair.

It doesnt matter about the name on the box, since its FAKE, I get it. But let me show you why I think this figure should be labelled as Phoenix instead.. growing up as a 90s kid, I am only familiar to 4 variations of Jean Grey, excluding the movie versions..

There's one of her earlier costumes as Marvel Girl, and then Jim Lee's design of Jean Grey, which was popularised in the 90s animated series. Phoenix which is the mini figure, and lastly, Dark Phoenix, almost same as the green suited except shes waring red and has Phoenix logo.

Mini Add-On
Commonly included to the figs from this set are these emblem display simple builds. This one came with Phoenix logo printed on the emblem.

Its really not that much, but its something.. maybe if they could have included a bigger base plate for the fifure to stand on and this emblem incorporated on it instead of separating them, it would have looked better on display.

Or they could have just included random pieces to build a background with weapon holder just like the other past releases. Then maybe Phoenix doesnt have to suffer the resemblance with Poison Ivy like this..

PHOENIX Score: 7/10
Fact: the original SDCC 2012 is considered as one of the rarests LEGO minifigs released. The figure itself is totally fine except for the hair color, I need her for my X-Men collection and I dont think those vines will still come with her once she joins my other X-Men figs.
