APRIL HAUL- Super Heroes and Chima [Sheng Yuan] [DECOOL]

Finally got my first haul, which I will feature in this blong on the coming days/week.
bought everything from online store, Jsatoys. They have all knockoffs, so if you are from Philippines, visit their facebook page.

I got the Avengers set, Chima 4 and some super heroes set from SY, another super heroes set and the Guardians of the Galaxy set from DECOOL, as well as macrofigs of Juggernaut and Groot, also from DECOOL, and a regular gray base plate, which I thought is big enough to hold all these character minifigs I just got, but the space is not enough, so I'm going to get more of that soon.

I'll be making reviews for these, as well as alternate diorama builds, like what I did for Fantastic Four set, if there are enough parts, but I think only Chima 4 has those parts I can use for dioramas. the superheroes sets came with collector cards.

Cheap Mini Sets + Mini Figures Part 2 [ZHILING] [ENLIGHTEN] [COMPANION]

Hello again, and welcome to my Cheap Mini Sets review, part 2! a very nice greeting to start the blag entry,  influenced by JANGBRiCKS, one of my favorite YouTube channels, which reviews original LEGO products. But today, I am once again making some reviews of cheap knock-off mini sets that I own, because I don't have that much original sets from LEGO.

all yellow skintones' aye?
[ZHILING] DIVING TEAM No. A1014
Comes with 37 pieces, and suggests this toy is suitable for Ages 3+. Diving Team or Diving Team Super.

Still have the price tag sticking on front of the box, I bought this for PHP28.00 (Philippine Peso), that's equivalent to more than half US Dollar, really cheap. The back of the box does not show any alternate builds, and.. let's see why I'm not a fun of this set that much..

The set includes this small submarine-like apparatus, which has parts that are very loose, and the structure of this submarine is not that impressive. I get it, it's cheap, but the quality of some other cheap knockoffs are much better than this one. The diver, or marine guy whatever you wanna call him is not that an eye candy as well. plus, he has the race-car driver/ astronaut helmet, rather than the helmet with goggles, which will suit him better. Take a closer look at his face..

He is mad! He is either not happy of his job, or can't do his job well because of the style of visor he is wearing. This toy is market for kids, as the box say, ages 3+. I don't think a frowning face will make a kid happy playing with this. The print on his jacket seems nice, but other than that, nothing else. So he will be named Grumpy Joe.

This tiny submarine is no thrill as well. I don't like the yellow parts, too toxic looking. And when Grumpy Joe is sitting on his place, the propeller won't spin flawlessly because the oxygen tank at the back of the mini-fig is blocking it's way. Over all, this mini-set sucks.

[COMPANION] SUPER CAR No.102
The race car mini set is for Ages 5+.  I think this toy has no basic "series name" but the box says Super Car, so why not? let's see how super this is..

I got this for only PHP9.75! Nine Pesos and Seventy Five Cents! In Philippines, 1 US$ is equivalent to I guess 42-45 Pesos now, so to see how cheap this thing really is, do the math! The front and back box art is just the same. not sure what is front and back though.

Very clever design of race car, kinda look like just a skeleton, with no casing yet. Well this is the standard build for mini-sets cars, so don't expect too much. The yellow parts seems working well in this set, than the yellow parts in submarine one. The minifig, who I call Brad, wears appropriate racer suit and proper helmet, with neon visor.

Brad in his race car looks kinda like he is a kid in an amusement park, riding a novelty cart in one of the park's ride attractions. Again, this is a normal size build for cheap knockoffs. let's see what Brad's face looks like with the helmet off..

I like this particular print on this mini-fig's face. it's not the usual smiley face, but this one is more cartoony, and Brad looks handsome with this face print. no wonder a lot of his girl fans are dying to be around him..

[ENLIGHTEN] PIRATES SERIES 1201
Another favorite of mine, the pirate mini-fig and his little raft.

The box art looks pleasing, no wonder I bought this. I love the simple build that is shown in front, and the back offers alternate builds that can be made only using the actual parts that is included in the set. I tried this alternate builds, and you can see them at the bottom of this post.

Great looking raft, I did not expect too much, but this raft is really cool. The parts fits each other really well and does not fell apart easily. I love that pirate flag, which is printed. The pirate, now named Arge, has a nice smile on his face. He obviously needs to shave, but it doesn't matter, because it looks good on him as a pirate. He has a gown and a chrome silver sword, and a red bandana.

I really wish I have blue LEGO mat, for ocean/sea purpose. This Pirate raft will surely looks cool on it. The raft and the pirate dude does not look too simple, nor too outrageous. I think it is average, and is worth the price. and now for the alternate builds..

"how dare yah get ya'r nasty feet in my island, ya fool?"

*The're life's worth gold and pearls, my foes shall walk thy plank! Argh!!*

COMMENTS:
It's really cool that this knockoff LEGO companies has the different themes of mini-sets, for the kids to choose from. Either they'd like to be in a pirate era, or city, or in medieval stuff.

If you have any suggestions, or comments about the posts and toys featured in this blog, feel free to leave a comment below. I will surely appreciate it.

Cheap Mini Sets + Mini Figures Part 1 [ENLIGHTEN] [JIE-STAR] [KAZI]

As promised, I will be posting images and sometimes, reviews, of all the cheapest LEGO knock offs that I own, and will soon have. I have ordered several Super Heroes and Chima sets online, only those I think looks really good. But for now, I am going to make reviews about this old cheap knock offs that I have for a very long time already. I own several sets, all I did not really planned to buy, I just spotted them on some markets and malls that I visited, and decided to buy them, If I find them really amusing.

don't they look nice? and really tiny?

[KAZI] FIELD ARMY No. KY84016
This set comes with 43 pieces, nice sandy beige and gray color which suits the soldier theme really well.

The back of the box shows other sets which can also be bought from the same theme. I really wish I can have them as well, they are really hard to find in the local stores now, and getting them online may cost me a lot than P34.oo, or less than 1$, the price of this set when I bought it.

The size of the car included is really small, but perfect for it's price. I have seen a lot of mini-sets like this with the same size of the car. It looks like an ATV, and it has a flag on it. The Army guy, who I named Benjamin, wears a gray uniform with many pockets on the jacket, and a gray cap. He also has a fierce  but decent look in his face, which is perfect for his job.

The set also includes this long gun weapon for the army minifig, which can be attached at the back of the ATV. here's Benjamin riding his Army vehicle:

[ENLIGHTEN] KNIGHTS CASTLE SERIES 1001
I'm not exactly sure how many pieces are there in this set, as it is not stated anywhere at the box, and I don't have time to separate the already built set, to count. but this is the smallest one that I have, so far. This is actually the last of it's kind from where I bought this, and It is the one that they have on displays, already built and over the counter. I only asked the sales person if I can buy it, and she said yes.

There are suggested alternate builds for this set, and even though this is a really small set, the alternate builds still look good. the one looks like a botanist, inspecting the plant, and the other one looks like your grand dad having a smoke outside the garden.

The set includes few blocks and a plant piece arrange together to look like a look out. The soldier wears blue armor with grey and gold details, and he holds a horn for announcement, I guess, and a flag on a pole, with the emblem of whatever kingdom he came from. the flagpole does not fit any open-hole pegs on the blocks, and needs to be carried by the soldier, who I named Lance, all the time.

Here is Lance with his medieval age bullhorn, and the flag pole barely inserted in one of the open pegs, barely standing. here's how Lance look when he is positioned at the back of his look-out, and also how it looks at the back:

Such cute set. the plant addition give the war theme of this set some good vibes. and Lance needs to shave, don't you think?

[JIE-STAR] NAVY SEALS No. 24001
Now this is one of my favorite set among the cheap set that I have, quality wise. This set has 24 pieces.

There are no alternate built suggested on the box art, they instead put images of the devastated scuba diver who looks like he fell from his motor boat. I understand that it is hard to make alternate builds for this set, as the motorboat or jetski has only few of parts to be build though.

The reason why I like this set is because the jetski is in appropriate size, not big for the minifig, and not that small, just fine. It also have few more spaces in it, even if the scuba guy is riding it. The scuba diver looks perfect as well. I like his goggles, attached in his helmet. This is the only minifig I own that uses the same helmet, but not the glass thing for it's eye wear.  he also has some oxygen thank on his back, but I forgot to take photos of it. My scuba diver in green and gray suit is named Jef.

Here's Jef, riding his jetski. I really like this orange boat, and the strip of black elements on it's front, with the scuba diver in it, it somehow reminds me of a pumpkin, on a halloween. my favorite holiday! the colors made this one of my personal favorite.

This set also includes 2 swimming flippers for the scuba diver to wear, whenever he wants to go for a dice, or something fell in the ocean that needs to be retrieved or saved. The flippers are also green.

Scuba Diver Jef, sporting his green flippers, goggles down, and under the sea.

WHATS MY TAKES
I love these mini-sets so much, they are very affordable, they only cost about 20 - 40 pesos, or not more than 1 US dollar, good quality, everything is printed and no stickers used. The parts does not fall apart, but not stiff and hard to deal with.

A kid who does not have enough money to buy original LEGO products but want experience the fun of building bricks and collecting mini-figures will surely enjoys this. Not as good as the original LEGO, but this is some good stuff. I hope I can still find other mini-sets from this brands and themes.

(even though they are years old, I still have the box, something I am proud of)
(black 2x4 flat piece is original LEGO brick. see I don't own just rip-offs!)

[SY] Fantastic Four Set + My own Display Diorama

My very first set of LEGO rip-offs, from Sheng Yuan: Fantastic Four!
There are 8 characters from this set, 7 of which are regular size minifigure, well 6 I think, because one of them has longer legs, and one is "macro figure".. I'm not really sure if that's what it is actually called, but that's what my online seller labels it.

The 8 characters are: Dr. Doom, Pyro (from X-Men), Mr. Fantastic, The Thing, Invisible Woman, Human Torch (flame-on version), Silver Surfer, and Human Torch (normal version).

REVIEW
I like the macro-fig (yep, I'll settle calling it that now), The Thing, although in the comics, he is just average height, but he is my favorite from this set. Mr. Fantastic is displaying his special skills, which is nice. It's also nice that they included two versions of Human Torch, that will come in handy for play-times. Silver Surfer really is color silver in this set, and not just gray. and Dr. Doom is also well done. As for the inclusion of Pyro, a Brotherhood member from X-Men, I think he is a good filler for this 8-pack set. He is not as famous as the other Brotherhood members, and who would have thought he will also have his mini-figure version. I think SY mistaken him for another Human Torch costume-change, I guess. The most boring character in this set is Invisible Woman, who does not have anything to showcase her power.

THE EXTRA PARTS
This set does not have trading cards, like the other set. This set came with extra parts, which I think are just random part, for my perspective, builds nonsense structures. also, some parts are very lose and always fell from the other parts. The base also have printings of SY, which eats a lot of space, and only left several pegs for the building parts and the mini-figure to be placed on to. I don't like these parts and base but I don't want it to go to waste, so I decided to combine everything to make my own display diorama:

I put all the bases together, and all parts were "Krageled", because they keep on falling apart, the studs were the hardest to deal with. I used all the silver studs for Silver Surver's stand, and the gold studs for other mini-figs'. I did not put glue on the fire-pieces because I think I can still use them on other things, and I fancy the color. here are other views of the diorama:

As I said, everything from this set were put into use, nothing was left behind. the 2 gold studs at the back is where The Thing is going to stand, so he will be floating a little at the back, for better blocking. the 2 brown cones at the side put together is where Mr. Fantastic is going to stand, for more illusions that he is stretching taller. This is what it looks like with the fire pieces placed on it:

The gold studs at the back of the upper fire pieces is where the flaming Human Torch is going to stand, that way it will looks like he is flying, while the cool-down Human Torch will be placed below, so it will look like he glided down, I hope. here's how it looks like with the characters on place:

So they were posed like they are racing after the crystal in the front, inspired by the iconic Legend of Zelda poster. I'm pretty satisfied on how the 2 Human Torch looks. The Thing looks like he is a freaking giant and I love it. My plan on Silver Surfer did not fail, so is on Mr. Fantastic. Invisible Woman and Dr. Doom looks just fine.

The diorama still looks like there is a war happening in the city though. here is how it looks like, quarter-top view:

All characters are not glued into place, because I don't want to ruin them, they will be displayed like this, but only for a matter of time, I have other plans on displaying them, when my collection grows.

Btw, Pyro is not part of my diorama because, well he is not a character from Fantastic Four. I have plans for him, soon he will be reunited with his Brotherhood team. for the moment, let him flirt with this cute girl mini-figure, which my cousin gave to me, when I visited our province last year:

Hola, fellow toy collectors!!

Welcome to my new blog, The Poor Collector.
This is my second toy-related photo blog, the other one being The Toy Stream, which only features SD Gundam toys, and currently under long hibernation at the moment. In this blog, I will only post about cheap bootlegs of LEGO, I think most will be superheroes, and other mini-figures from China companies like DECOOL, LELE, and my personal favorite, SHENG YUANG or SY.

It's not that long ago when I first discovered these cheaper replicated version of LEGO mini-figs in the market, characters from Marvel and DC comics, and LEGO's very own Legends of Chima and Friends line, and Minecraft, all comes in set of 6 to 8 boxes. I was really amazed how good their production is. They can almost compete with the standards of the original one. Personally, I thought they are really good and much more cheaper, obviously.

There are some other blogs that reviews these LEGO bootlegs, like my favorite, My Brick Store, which helps me decide which set shall I get. but the people who own these blogs are real LEGO collectors, unlike me, who only have few sets of LEGO, back when I was a child (I mostly collect Gundam and Nerf blasters).

So I'm starting this Class-A-LEGO blog of my own to as well showcase my soon-to-be growing collection of proud fake, china-made, mini figures.  :D

Let this also be my diary of my experience on collecting these mini-figs, I am planing to complete all of my favorite characters from my all-time favorite comic series, X-Men and Avengers, and other Marvel ownde, like Guardians of the Galaxy, Fantastic Four, and Spider-man. I know The Avengers have tons of sets of fake mini-figs already out in the market, while X-Men only has few of the characters made, mostly Wolverine. I will also get some DC, but that won't be my focus. other blogs like DC more than Marvel, but I kinda grew loving Marvel, so.. I think Legends of Chima is also cool, so I'll try to have them as well, plus I like the cartoons.

Enjoy!

PS: that explains the name of the blog, The Poor Collector, because these fake/rip-off/bootleg/class a whatever you want to call it toys are the haven for the kids who were not rich enough to buy the original ones, which costs fortune.
