Cheap Mini Sets + Mini Figures Part 3: Girls! [ENLIGHTEN] [QIAOLETONG]

Knockoff LEGO companies does not just range from all these cool city, police, pirates, space, knights, super heroes themes that are obviously marketed for boys. These companies also produces mini sets and mini figures that are girls themed, or exclusive for girls, but can still be bought and enjoyed by both gender. So, in the spirit of diversity, I am reviewing 3 cheap mini sets which are marketed for girls.

"honey... where's your undies?"
I have these mini sets for some time now, and I finally got to make a review about them. even thought they came from different knock-off companies, they all have the same hair style, which is the ponytail for girls, it's different in color though. I think it is the default hair style for knock-off girl mini-figures.

[QIAOLETONG] TS20120 Entertainment Set
Comes with 31 pieces, I can't really tell what's the theme of this mini set, since it's all written in chinese, I believe that is chinese.. so let's call it Entertainment Set for now.

The back of the box shows few alternate builds, but the main build for this mini set, is a Living Room showcase, with a coach/sofa, a TV set with remote, and the lady minifigure. all for 38PHP or less than 1USD.

The TV screen and the remote prints are not actually printed on the bricks, but just stick-on shiny stickers. It's really up to you how you will interpret that tv show shown.

Here's Betty, I named her that, watching whatever that is shown. I don't like the print of the face, it's too high I guess, it makes Betty looks like she has humongous jaws and large chin. anyway I tried one of the alternate builds, even without instructions, so check it out:

is it a motorcycle? is it a donkey? is it a gym equipment?
Yeah, I can't really tell what it is either.. what do you think?

[QIAOLETONG] TS20120 Beach Set
Can't tell what this set is called either, but it contains 30 pieces. let's just say this mini set is called "beach set".. It also came from the same company as Entertainment Set, which is QIAOLETONG.

Several alternate builds shown at the back, still beach related though..

The mini set composed of a sun-bathing bed, a mini umbrella with standee, a cassette radio of some sort, a walkie talkie and a female minifigure who happens to have forgotten to wear her underwear.

The fact that this minifigure looks like she wears nothing down there bums alot, but hey, this mini-set is marketed for female buyers, so maybe they can put a little story about it, like she's some sort of beauty queen in vacation who does not like tan lines? nice print in the torso though, very spring looking.. but isn't beach suppose to be this popular only during summer? also check out that ugly sticker for the parasol.. the pillow, towel on the bench, and the 2 sided boombox are all stickers too, but not as fail looking as the umbrella.

[ENLIGHTEN] 1208 Girls Series
This simple build for girls theme from Enlighten is better than the first two on top. first, you can always trust Enlighten will give you quality, not that perfect, but still.

That's a huge foliage build, basically this mini set is about a lady with a book in an island, probably standed in it, but that tree is one huge build and it's like it is the main focus of the miniset. The back of the boxart also offers alternate builds, but mostly about how you can setup the foliage.

It came with a pink chair, a goblet (must be beer, or any sparkly drink which bubbles) that abnormal looking coconut/palm tree, a mini base, a female minifig I named Teresa, who has green sleeves instead of the white one promised in the box, and a book printed tile, I don't know what book it is, must be a quran. or any arabic literature, so this girl must be from middle east or just understands this letters.

nice torso print, but I really prefer it with white sleeves, but overall this mini-set is still outstanding, despite its cheap price, and it came from Enlighten, so the whole mini set is really nice and descent. check out the alternate builds:

"let me enjoy this toxic looking drink while resting beside this bamboo"
"my garden really needs some color, maybe if I planted flowers instead of grass"
By the way, I have this tanned skin girl mini-figure that I have used and featured in some images before, which I don't know really from what brand it came from. It was given to me by my younger cousin, all I know is that it was part of a bigger set of a house or doll house of some sort, but I have no idea which brand it is, so I cannot research it, so if someone can tell me, please post a comment. here she is once again:

"I got tanned too much by hanging out with Pyro so much."

[SY] NO. SY170 CHIMA 3 - OUTLANDS (Legend of Chima)

Welcome to the very first knock-off Legend of Chima review!! as we, people who loves bricks, all know, Legend of Chima is an original theme release by LEGO. they produced several sets and even a cartoon TV series to advertise this theme and it's a success. sadly, this theme is very expensive, like all the other releases from LEGO.

Sheng Yuan is one of the LEGO fakers who took advantage of Chima's appeal to the kids as well as the adult collectors. Right now, they have produced several sets from this theme, and the first knockoff set that I got is Chima 3, with 8 mini-figures in set:

Humanoid beasts.. in bulletproof plates.
The characters in this set is pretty much based on "Into The Outlands" of the animated series, and the original "Outlands" series of the toy line, judging their appearance, and the characters that are included in this set. So, I think that us knockoff Legend of Chima collectors should call this set..

NO. SY170 CHIMA 3 - OUTLANDS
Each fig came with a small base plate, us usual with SY print in it *sigh*, a very dramatic weapon build, few parts that will hold the weapon when not in use (by the character), and several "Chi" in form of transparent blue crystal pieces. They also included trading cards which has "Ghima" printed at the back, instead of Chima. check out each characters:

LAVAL (Lion Tribe)
He is the main hero in Legends of Chima. He has gray armor, instead of the usual gold because this is what he wore in Outlands series, and has a jetpack attached at his back. His "helmet" head is removal to show that he has printed standard minifigure head, but it does not really matter, since the helmet one is what his head is actually supposed to be. he have his original sword, only it's color is black because it is black in Outlands series, and a gray shield. The print for his body looks nice, it made him look like a gladiator with his weapons on.

ERIS (Eagle Tribe)
She is one of Laval's loyal allies. She wears her gold Outlands armor, instead of the gray one, like the others. She also has a default weapon which is a spear with golden handle and silver blade. Her special weapon looks really familiar.. it looks like the magic staff of Cardcaptor Sakura!! lol. anyway, her staff resembles her eagle likeness, and has one wing piece. Eris, as an eagle, has a pair of wings attached at her armor's back. Nice body print, also. check out those feet claws!

CRAGGER (Crocodile Tribe)
Laval's bestfriend turned enemy, Cragger isn't really that evil but he is a hero, he was only controlled by his sister to do bad things. Cragger wears the same gray scheme like everyone, only he has light olive green for legs and arms, because that is his actual color. He has the exact weapon that the he have in the original LEGO set Scorn's Scorpion Stinger, which also has Laval in his Outlands outfit in it.

GORZAN (Gorilla Tribe)
He is an ally to Laval and Eris. I am disappointed on his face prints, it's lime green instead of lighter cream or just white, it made him looks like he is part of the Spider Tribe. The weapon looks awesome though. It looks really fun, with those bananas in it. It is his same weapon in original release, Sparratus' Spider Stalker.

ROGON (Rhino Tribe)
He is Eris' boyfriend, can you believe that? an eagle and a rhino in a romantic relationship. Well, that does not matter to kids who'd best enjoy this toys like soldiers fighting each other, than play the romantic side. His full appearance is totally gray and silver. His weapon which has a huge horn-like on top is the same weapon he have in original releases: Spinlyn's Cavern, and his own set release, Rogon's Rock Flinger.

BLISTA (Bat Tribe)
Another winged character. He wears gray armor which holds the chi in front, similar to other characters. His wings are also attached in his arm or, the same way Eris wings are attached in her's. He has fury prints in his legs, which is kinda beasty looking for me, than humanoid. His weapon looks like a gun, with three green fangs in it, I haven't really seen this weapon in original releases.

SCOLDER (Scorpion Tribe)
The Scorpion General. He has these great "okir" patterns all over is torso, really regal looking. In the cartoons, he has a tail/stinger, but in the original set  release from LEGO, he does not have it, but in the speedors release, he has it. But I think Scolder without his stinger looks fine. He has a default weapon, a staff, which I have seen before, but the other weapon is kinda new, it has a yellow fang on top, and looks like a laser gun.

SPARRATUS (Spider Tribe)
The Spider tribe wears grass skirts and has a very forest-tribal look. Sparratus is a low-level soldier of Spider Tribe. He does not came with a huge weapon, but he has this tribe-staff which fairly matches his color. He has spider web printed in his torso. The minifigure came with this large web piece, with a spider in it, maybe his pet, or little brother who has not drank the chi yet that is why it's not humanoid yet LOL.

THOUGHTS
Before my opinion about the whole set, here are some other pictures that I took, with and without weapons:

who's ready for some action?
class of 2015
I think this set is really great, it has a perfect theme accuracy, because every minifigure is the same on their appearance in Outlands toys release, and in TV series. The trading cards are a little disappointment, because it did not followed the real names of the characters shown in the images, and their new given names are really hard to pronounce. Only one character card has used the original name, and it is Eris' card.

I found another brand which also released several Outlands-based Chima minifigures, and the Scolder has the stinger in it, so I might get that set soon, only for the stinger, because I heard that brand has really poor paint jobs.

Overall, this set will pass for Kids' little satisfactions. They can play it like tribe wars, or something, they can get more copies of their favorite characters and use them like an army. I know some stores sell this toys separately or as a set. If they like Legends of Chima, but cannot afford the original sets, this knockoff will do, same characters looks and weapons as the original releases. I will surely get more Chima sets from Sheng Yuan.

[DECOOL] 0175-0180 Guardians of the Galaxy Set + 0198 Groot

The Guardians of the Galaxy set from DECOOL consists 6 character mini-figures, the four main character, excluding Groot, and super villains, Nebula and Ronan. DECOOL has this style of excluding characters with bigger scale on sets, and selling them separately, in this case, our beloved forest alien, Groot. I got both the set and the macro-fig (or big fig, whatever) and today's the review day:

"we are...... Groot"
I think the Groot figure is kinda out of scale? maybe Groot is showcasing his powers to grow on to abnormal size? But still, the figure is cool. More stuff about Groot below, but first, let's have a look at the GotG set of 6 mini-figures:

0175-0180 GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Set of 6
This set came with Drax, Ronan, Star-Lord, Gamora, Nebula, and Rocket Raccoon.

PETER QUILL / STAR-LORD
No expectations failed on this one. the fig came with both Star-Lord's helmet and Quill's hair, for story-play purposes. It also have 2 transparent yellow cylinder for Star-Lord to stand on so it will make him look like he is flying, and two Elemental Guns? in case you lose one, there's always a spare. 10/10 for the alternate hair and extra gun.

GAMORA
Gamora has black long hair, with purple streaks, rather than a complete purple hair, but it still looks nice and accurate. They did not made new mold for Gamora's actual sword and instead included 2 silver samurai swords, and she also have the prison suit on, like Peter, instead of her sexy black outfit.

DRAX THE DESTROYER
Drax looks a little smaller than his fellow mini-figs, despite the fact that he actually have huge body build in comics and in movie. Batista's body, hello? I think they should make big-fig version of Drax. He also comes with 2 throwing knives. I know DECOOL is only copying what LEGO releases, but I think they can do better, make a big-fig for Drax!

Before anything else, I just want to point out that this set is based on the movies. how can I tell? because Drax has green skin in the original comics, and they (MCU) only made his skin gray in the movies to avoid similarities to Hulk.

ROCKET RACCOON
What I like about this Rocket Raccoon is that he is in really good scale with other mini-figures. Also, one of the reasons I got DECOOL, is because Rocket Raccoon's tail in SY set is missing in action. Only flaw I think is the gun, It doesn't look that appealing, It doesn't look like the Ion Cannon.

NEBULA
Blue-skinned Nebula, looks good. The silver arm which suppose to act as Nebula's cybernetic arm is nice. And her top outfit print is accurate to the one she wore in the Movie. Just like her adoptive sister, Gamora, she has 2 samurai swords.

RONAN THE ACCUSER
Ronan the Kree, rather, also looks accurate to his movie version. only the silver printing in his outfit does is a little off, it should be a little darker. and his weapon is totally fine. The cape, I have split thoughts. I think the cape should not be that wide, but again, DECOOL is only following what LEGO released, so..

And that's all the 6 mini-figres that is included in this set release. Now for the separate released Groot..

0198 GROOT
This big-fig Groot, as I said before, is too big. he is even bigger to the big-figs of Hulk/The Thing/Juggernaut, he stands like twice the taller than them. So I guess, he is too-off, when it comes to scale. But I think it's fine, kids loves Groot, and with this figure, I think it will satisfy them, from the absence of Groot on the GotG set of 6.

My other issue is his lack of movements, he can only move his arms up-and-down, and twist turn his hands. The head does not rotate, so does his long legs. And the figure did not came with a stand-base. Here is another pic of the whole Guardians of the Galaxy set with Groot:

Galactic Battle!!
LAST THOUGHTS
The DECOOL set that I got does not contain trading cards nor the instruction manual, despite it's supposedly inclusion was clearly stated on the box. I know I got this still brand new, because the boxes are still mint closed, and the figures are still sealed. meeeh, who cares about the damn trading cards, I'm all up for the minifigs.

Mabe the kids who are getting these both for the minifigs and trading cards will be a little disappointed if they also got a set that thus not include either, but the enjoyment really comes from the minifigures.

SY has 8 minifigures, it has Groot, who is only slight bigger than the other characters, which will pass great scale, a Nova Corp figure, and a Sakaaran, but it does not have Nebula. so I'm only getting that set for Groot, N.C fig, and Sakaaran. Also, it has several bricks which I can use for diorama, which this set does not have.. and to expand my Guardians of the Galaxy mini-figures a bit more, I will also have The Collector, from another superhero set from DECOOL.
